Ashley & Jordan – The Vault

Filed under Weddings • Written by Nathan @ 12:59 pm

One thing that we take a lot of pride in is being able to adapt and thrive in any situation. It’s no secret that some locations are easier to shoot in than others. Each week we are presented with a different scenario that forces us to change our approach. It keeps this job fun and exciting. While the basic structure of a wedding is the same week to week, the people, the lighting, the environment, and even the other vendors all change. Some weeks it’s just time that is the enemy. We try to squeeze the fun stuff in wherever we can and try to capture the essence of the day. Ashley & Jordan were amazing to work with and while we were a bit crunched for fun time we got a chance to roam around downtown a little bit and make it work. We had a blast shooting with the crew from Lotz Studios and we even got to try out some new equipment along the way. So without any further rambling I give you Ashley & Jordan’s Music Video from The Vault in downtown Columbus… enjoy.

Crystal & Luis

I love unique weddings. It’s the story behind the couple that keeps this job interesting from week to week. Crystal & Luis came to Ohio from Florida to celebrate their five year anniversary and renew their vows in front of family and friends. They have started a wonderful family and their sons Jonathon and Justin had a big role in the big day. The original date was November 12th, 2004 in Orange Park, FL. Five years and two days later Crystal & Luis renewed their vows in a beautiful Ceremony here in downtown Columbus. We were able to spend a few minutes over at the Statehouse and had a great time shooting with Lotz Studios. We wish Crystal & Luis (& Jonathon & Justin :) all the best in their continuing life together. They are definitely enjoying much better weather than we are right now :) Congratulations!!!

Kristen & Rik – St. Matthew & Doubletree Worthington

On Halloween we spent an amazing day with Rik & Kristen. I had spent some time with them over last winter while filming a promo piece for Crystal Jo Foto and I could see they were going to be a lot of fun. On their big day it was great to spend some more time with them and shoot in one of my favorite churches. We went over to Otterbein for some fun stuff and then on to the Doubletree in Worthington. I have to give a shout out to Crystal Jo Foto for some great ideas and for putting up with us :)
Congratulations to Kristen & Rik! We wish you all the best in your new life together! Enjoy…

I will apologize now for this short blog post but things are getting pretty crazy around here. We are getting excited for this coming year and still working on finishing up the last few projects from last year. J.T. & Adrienne have been patiently waiting for their Music Video to appear on the blog so I wanted to make sure to get this up for them. They were wonderful to work with and really went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed on their big day. Congratulations to J.T. & Adrienne!!

Mary + Joe

Every year there is always one wedding that stands out to me. Usually for unusual reasons. I don’t like to say I have favorites because every week is special but… I think I’ll make an exception for this one. Mary & Joe’s big day in October was definitely the coolest wedding of the year. We traveled down to Cincinnati spent the day downtown at some amazing places. Old St. Mary’s church provided a spectacular backdrop for the Ceremony and we even found time to stop at Great American Ballpark which might have been the highlight of my entire film career. I am a HUGE Reds fan and I’m constantly traveling down to Cincy for games so it was extremely cool to be there while filming a wedding. The Reception was at the Millennium Hotel and they chose the coolest Reception meal ever… Cheeseburger’s and french fries! There were condiments and toppings spread out over the tables and french fry buffets in the corners of the room. There was also a visit from Who Dey (Bengal’s mascot) during the cocktail hour. All in all it was an awesome day and we wish Mary & Joe all the best in their new married life together!!

Mike & Val – Greek Orthodox Cathedral & The Renaissance

We are involved in many weddings where the stress sometimes outweighs the joy. With all of the planning and details to get organized it is easy to lose sight of what is really important. At the end of the day the goal is to come away Man & Wife. There are some couples that take the time to enjoy their big day all the way through. Mike & Val were so relaxed and that easy going attitude always makes the day flow easily. We had a great time and to top it off we were able to use a fantastic song from Small Town Sleeper for the Music Video. It’s not often that someone suggests a song that I haven’t heard but it’s always fun to use something out of the typical wedding box that we get trapped in often :) I also want to give a quick thank you to Kevin from Craiglow Photography who was kind enough to allow us to test out some lenses from his bag… Congratulations to Mike & Val!

Molly + Nick

The Church at Mill Run. I’ve driven past it hundreds of times but we had our first opportunity to shoot their this fall. It is an amazing state of the art facility that is so large you can easily get lost while roaming around. Molly & Nick are an amazing couple. They were very involved from day one to make sure we had everything we needed to capture their special day. We had a fantastic time with them and wish them all the best in their new life together! Congratulations to NIck & Molly!

September was a busy month. We had several double weekends and we visited the Greek Orthodox Cathedral multiple times. You won’t find a more beautiful sanctuary in the city and is very close to some amazing places to shoot downtown. Tia & Tim were fantastic to work with and they had one hopping Reception at The Renaissance… enjoy! -Nathan

Kathy & Jon

Of all the places we have filmed over the years, I have never gotten the chance to film at my home church. So I jumped at the chance to film in the chapel at Vineyard Columbus up on Cooper Road. It was a little bit surreal being there to film instead of for a service but we had a great time. Kathy & Jon are a great couple. They were so cooperative and made sure to schedule enough time for pictures and video. We had some great outdoor locations to work with and the weather couldn’t have been better. Congrats to Kathy & Jon!!

Referrals are what keeps us going. We depend on word of mouth quite a bit to stay busy and this year has been no exception. We especially enjoy the weddings where its the same family that we have filmed before. Last summer we filmed Becky’s sister Amanda’s wedding. They also chose St. Peter’s so all day I had major Deja Vu. Just like last summer we had another wonderful experience and the day was just absolutely perfect. Congrats to Becky & Andy!!
